CENTURY MEDIA And EARACHE Announce U.S. Licensing Deal
January 29, 2013Century Media has announced a brand new licensing arrangement with Earache Records that will see Century Media license Earache's physical catalog of CDs and LPs in the USA. Earache's digital distribution of its illustrious back catalog and new releases remains in-house and unchanged.
This groundbreaking license deal between two of the metal world's powerhouse labels will pave the way for the physical versions of all future releases and titles from Earache's classic back catalog to be released as an array of collectible LPs and CD box sets. With Century Media's team of catalog specialists, fans can expect an exciting variety of fantastic collectibles to be released on the U.S. market in the near future.
Earache's U.S. label boss Al Dawson says: "I am over the moon with our new arrangement with Century Media. Both Earache Records founder Digby Pearson and myself have known Century Media owners Oliver and Robert for 20-plus years and I couldn't think of a better team of people to be working with moving forward.
"Earache has always been a progressive-minded label. From being one of the first independent labels to having our own web site back in the early '90s and to being one of the first labels to work directly with iTunes and doing business with Spotify since day 1 in Europe."
Century Media North American President Don Robertson states: "It's exciting times in the world of metal and I am ecstatic to welcome aboard Earache to the Century Media family in our time of growth. Being able to dive into the catalog of records that so many of us grew up with and being able to re-release cool limited editions will be a lot of fun and we are particularly excited to be working with and continuing to build future releases from artists such as RIVAL SONS, OCEANO and THE BROWNING."
Century Media has nearly 50 people on staff in the U.S. and the same overseas and CM Distro is America's #1 mail order for metal. Earache and Century Media staff will work in tandem on the marketing of all releases.
